Kauai's Things To Do with babies and kids
For a pretty stop to stretch your legs as you arrive at the north side you can go see this lighthouse. This park has a lovely view of sea and the pillar of a lighthouse. This is fun for older kids to try ad walk up the inside and for littles to play on the grass outside.
The market at the Kauai Community College on Kuhio Hwy in Puhi is great fun. I was going to say that kids will love seeing the fresh coconuts chopped open but to be honest I was super excited to see them too. We also split a couple smoothies freshly made that morning from all local island ingredients. Plantains were thick and tasty. While the food stalls made for good nibbles while we picked out our weekend's worth of fruit, bread and veggies to snack on in our hotel.
I drug the 3 of us travel buddies to many markets while on the island and learned how to tell when a pineapple was ripe, that my son just adores lychee berries and that fresh coconut water is really quite good. Each trip I made to a framer's market I got different fruit so we could try bites of everything. Pineapples, bananas, lychees, chard, coconut, mangos, avocados, onions, salad greens. This island is a paradise for fresh fruit and veggie lovers.
Kauai Spots to Eat with babies and kids
These are yummy and the tortillas are super fresh. The tacos are nice and big so they will do the job of filling you up well and you can split one between two littles.
Seating is small with only a couple outdoor tables right along the parking lot and a few inside. I kept my little guy in his car-seat for safety and you can use the stroller for bigger kids.
Bring an infant car-seat, stroller or toddler backpack leash to keep your wild gummybear safe when food crawls involve stripmall dinning.
I stopped here for breakfast early one morning because the little dude decided sleep was for suckers. The French Toast was super nummy. I sat on the back patio and enjoyed taking in all the scented flowers and early morning light. It was fun to stroll the outdoor shops after eating and breathe in the salty air's succulent scents as it mixed with flowers right over head.
