Going on a cruise to a hot and very sunny destination can cause a lot of skin issues to flare up and bite you in the face. I have very sensitive skin and am that wonderful shade of glow-in-the-dark pale. Since you can see the veins in my skin the fist thing I put in my suitcase is sunblock. With a won't-stop toddler I need to use spray sunblock as much as I can for speed and ease.
I really like a good zinc based sunblock for a long day on the beach and then I reapply my spray throughout the day.
You might feel safe and sound with a couple layers of sunblock but I always travel with a small and collapsible parasol to pop up and add a little protection on long, scenic walks or lazy beach days. This is a great item for when baby is tiny and you are baby wearing as the parasol protects both of you from burning.
A lot of what we as women see every day does not support feeling good about being pale. It's as lovely a shade as any other and you don't need to apply fake tanners or burn yourself for some idea of beauty. Be you: be happy in your own skin not because some movie told you so but because you love yourself as much anyone else.
Pack two types of sunblock.
Always bring a crush-able 4 inch brim hat or bigger.
Pack two neutral color light-weight cotton button ups that will shade your arms and dry fast.
