Sticking with your Gestational Diabetes Diet at Christmas
Just because you need to watch over how you are eating does not mean that you should be missing out on the festive foods and family traditions.
I found it extra hard to resist sweets once I wast told to stay on a gestational diabetes diet. In fact my numbers kept rising and getting pretty high until I listened to my body and followed my instinct. Adapting the diet made a huge difference in both sticking to the lower carbohydrates and keeping my numbers nice and stable.
My nurse counted milk as a carb but I included it as a protein. I would blend up smoothies with fruit and greens and pour in milk with some live greens powder.
Rotisserie chicken was a big help to keeping fed. I would buy two, debone them and toss the slices in with lots of meals.
Great meals and snacks for a GD diet while growing your little monkey:
Eggs and beans fried together with olive oil
Cheese layered on apple slices
Pea soup with turkey meatballs
Cottage cheese and peaches
Grated carrots, fennel and apples as a salad
Charred carrots with mustard sauce
Chicken, avocado and melted cheddar on toast
