The Single Momma's Guide:
What Not to Buy for Colic
I tried a ton of stuff to get the mini mammal to rest easy, feel better and be happy but most of the stuff I bought I thought was a waste of money.
What solutions have you tried and liked?
The two core features I continued to find important was low cost and strong. Because of that I found making my own gas and colic remedies paid off big time; both in saving my tight single momma budget and helping ease discomfort and pain for baby Bram.
I have done an article on what I think works great and these are some of my natural remedies. Read it here.
Gripe Water; The gripe was either unnatural or watered down and useless. I found homemade gripe water infinitely better and way easier on the wallet.
Sleeping for a colic Baby:
Crib Pillows; The reflux pillow pads that angle babies more up-right are too dangerous for such little people. I steer clear of all wedges and pillows for newborns. Instead I let Bram sleep on my chest or in my arms.
Rock&Play; The rock and play just isn't safe enough for a preemie. It my case he was was so small I had to prop him up with rolled up blankets. Once he was bigger the colic lessened and by then he could fling himself out of the rock and play.
Car Seats; The car seat was not padded enough to allow him to rest in it more than ten minutes.I also worried about choking on vomit for the reflux months if he sat in the car seat to sleep. In the end it was safer to hold him while he slept.
