Natural ways to reduce nipple pain
Don't let cracked, bleeding and painful nipples stop you from Breastfeeding
(if that's what you want to do)
There are plenty of herbal remedies and aids for nursing but for nipple pain it is more of a topical issue to be dealt with.
A warm wrap made from the dandelion leaves can relax your tender breasts. Relaxing and taking a breather for yourself will majorly impact your ability to breastfeed; stress reduces supply just as relaxation and comforting warmth helps build supply. The wrap will also help ready your breast and nipple skin for better and faster absorption of any natural topical rubs. Begin by soaking dandelion leaves in boiling water. Lay leaves on nipples for five minutes. Remove the leaves, pat dry with a very soft hand towel and coat your nipples and areola with Lanolin. Allow the lanolin to fully air dry (about ten minutes).
Drying before dressing. Allowing your nipples ample time to air dry before layering on fabric is important. Try to nurse in a space that you feel comfortable letting your breasts air themselves out. Don't feel the need to cover up right away.
