As a happy if sleepy single momma of the cutest little dude I decided to begin a column for I Citizen about the struggles, joys and tips for single mommas raising sweet, well loved kids.
There has been a lot of news surrounding "free range parenting". Basically if you let your kid walk home you are now a criminal. Raising free, independent and loving kids is a solid goal. As a first time mom with no clue this column follows my misadventures in the mommy-hood.
No one is perfect but we can support each other, learn together and sometimes just enjoy the honor that it is to raise our babies.

It is a huge life transition going from childless to newborn caretaker and it happens so quickly you can feel overwhelmed. It often feels unreal in the early days. How can this little person be here and how can I love them so much?
Take the time to bond not only with your new child but with the new you staring back in the mirror. Becoming a parent for the first time shifts our priorities and changes our heart's perception of the world around us. Once the shock wares off from bringing home the new little one you can emotionally and spiritually settle into your new normal.
Is the love like in a move? Nothing is like it is in films, the feelings are so much more nuanced and rich and deep. Taking the feelings moment by moment; letting them drench you with overwhelming emotions of joy, fear and happiness is one of the keys.
Live vividly, experience each second and allow the experience to change you and allow your heart to shape the experience as well.
