Connecting with yourself is vital for a well grounded and healthy pregnancy. Take some time each morning when you first wake to have a mindfully aware moment with your body, heart and baby. Take a deep breath and exhale any concern you may hold within your heart for the day. Place you palms on your growing belly (or mini bump-to-be if this is early on in your pregnancy) and think a loving thought both for your child and your loved ones. Bring this loving thought out of your body and allow it to spread around you and out into the room.
What thought focuses you most positively on this pregnancy? Can you visualize you child?
Pick a few key thoughts to bring up and hold on to when you are tired and physically weary from the changes pregnancy brings.
Remember, no one is a magical pregnancy unicorn with rainbows out their rear. Any of us who have carried a (not so) little person around inside can sympathize with the struggles and sometimes sheer pain of pregnancy. Yet none of those physical reasons need deter you from a spirituality connected time for you and baby.
- Spend time each night before bed holding your tummy and talking with baby. Even get your partner involved and spend time bonding with both baby and mate.
- Create a few recipes that are easy but allow you and the little one inside to bond. Does he react to any foods in particular? Have fun bonding even before you meet.
You don't have to stop all your everyday, normal life activities but it is a good idea to take these months to slow down and enjoy. It is a rare gift and should be respected and loved.
