Give It All Away
We retain nothing of what we have in this life except love and the lessons learned from grabbing ahold of and relinquishing the need for the precious parts of life.
What do you have that really matters? My family is a huge part of my joy; my son, "furbaby" and siblings are all equally a part of my family.
When we think about value it is such a dangerously easy mistake to count things and not the people in our lives or our feelings about them as valuable. So much of our time as the New Year approaches is spent on foolish endeavors and worries. We worry about eating too much, indulging too deeply and not enjoying ourselves. Give all of that away.
As much as we give away unneeded possessions and sluff off dead layers of aging skin. You do not need to hold on to anything but what is truly valuable. Every extra layer and object we collect only burdens our hearts and minds needlessly.
Cross off the 'things' and look at the people on the list. There does not need to be a ton of people but look at them and think about how many of those folks you really feel love for and from.
Now sit in a silent area of your home and release the objects on your list. Think about each one, the feeling of need you associate with it and with a deep breath let it out. Once you have gone down the list of objects think about each person and take a few deep breaths. Now try to really focus on the way each one makes you feel, hold that in your heart as you go down the list. Once you have thought about each person of deep impact and importance on your list let those feelings radiate throughout your body. Try to get the happiness, love and respect to radiate from your heart out to your arms, through to your finger tips and down towards the bottom of your soles.
