Interview with Etsy shop Wooly Baby:
Wool Slippers for Babies, Toddlers, Kids, Women & Men
Hi, I'm Josie, the owner and designer of Wooly Baby slippers which are made from recycled wool sweaters and leather apparel. I began making slippers for my daughter when she was learning to walk and I could not find any wool, high-topped slippers for her.
How did you decide to join Etsy, was there anything in particular that helped you open up your own online store to sell your items?
I learned about Etsy from a friend and didn't do much planning before listing some slippers and wool pants. I was looking for something to do while my daughter napped. I have made many improvements to my designs, quality and my product photos since then.

Do you feel like there’s a real community of artists out there on the internet helping each other and being supportive of one another's works? Yes, Etsians are really helpful and willing to share their knowledge with others.
When did you first start making some of your products? Did you always want to create unique, artistic creations?
I began making slippers in November of 2008, when my daughter was a toddler. I always wanted to be an "artist" when I was a kid, but I was good at math and science so I got an engineering degree and worked in a corporate setting for 12 years before my daughter was born. So in a way, I have come back to my roots of creativity and I couldn't be happier!
How is your local area for supporting the arts? There are plenty of opportunities to sell my slippers at craft shows (and it's really fun to interact with customers) but I sell nearly all I can make online so I don't focus on local shows.
Lastly, is there anything you would like to add?
Thanks for your interest in Wooly Baby!
