In Balestrand there is mist that can linger over the ice for days, whispering in and around the high tops of glacier carved ghosts.
Magical gets thrown around in travel literature as much as quaint does in real estate listings. Norway is magical though. With foul trolls beneath caravan camp bridges that are really just mowed fields of pale grass and olden mounds with history buried so near our feet.
While masses of Chinese tourists come for the evening and quickly head out on the morning ferry I lingered for a few days to breathe in the clear air, let the morning mist drizzle in my hair and watch the solstice bonfire reach towards the snow capped mountains. The long days of summer sun and the cold waters make for a wonderful summer solstice experience while gazing out into the bonfire built at the water's edge.
